Food is a life giver, a fuel for the body to grow thrive and survive without it we would be die and wither away.

Food does many things to the body and helps us to grow and adapt to the lifestyle we have chosen.  So lets look at a few examples:

If you sit and stare at the TV all day munching on whatever foods you like your body will preserve this energy in the form of fuel and as a type of hibernation survival tool.  So the less energy or fuel you use and the more you consume will ultimately become fat stores.

On the flip side of the coin if you consume the right amount of fuel and expend energy through movement your body will use the stored fuel keeping you lean.

So the more we take in the more fat we gain IF we don't use the energy that is.  But if we do we will keep lean.

Its all in the label
Seems pretty simple so why do so many get stuck in a whirlwind of food hell when it comes to reaching their goals???

Well food has become more and more abundant and with big brands needing their foods to last longer and to supply more and more certain processes change the structure of foods.  Most of the foods we eat have been tampered with in some way to sustain colour vibrancy shelf life etc.

All of the additives sway in favour of food companies not in our favour.  A lot of us simply shop without checking out the labels and we really should take the time and make an effort to look at the ingredients, you would be surprised at what your filling your body with.

Lets look at the alternate names for sugar for example.

  • Barley Malt Syrup
  • Beet Sugar

  • Brown Sugar
  • Cane Crystals
  • Cane Sugar
  • Corn sweetener
  • Corn syrup, or corn syrup solids
  • Dehydrated Cane Juice
  • Dextrin
  • Dextrose
  • Evaporated Cane Juice
  • Glucose
  • Honey
  • Lactose
  • Maltodextrin
  • Malt syrup
  • Maltose
  • Maple syrup
  • Molasses
  • Palm Sugar
  • Raw sugar
  • Rice Syrup
  • Saccharose
  • Sucrose
  • Xylose

This is one example of many, so do a little research and get into the habit of checking out food labels so you know what it is your putting into your system and whether its helping you reach your goals or hindering you.

Food can be addictive especially when the foods we eat are filled with addictive additives that make you want more more and..........more.   So be on your guard and keep your eyes well and truly peeled.
