When it comes to maximize your weight loss you can throw EPOC into the mix to speed up the process :) 


So what is EPOC?

E -  Excess

P – Post
O – Oxygen

C – Consumption

After intense bouts of exercise or post exercise your body goes into oxygen debt which means the body requires oxygen to repay the debt to itself.  

So a post exercise calorie burning effect takes place to aid recovery - or some like to call it the AFTERBURN effect. 

So how can we maximize this effect to our advantage?  Well we need to create a balanced programme with the addition of intense bouts of exercise.  

Interval training is a great example and has a great Afterburn effect as you have worked out intensely.

Dependent on the activity you do will determine the level of Afterburn you get and how long it will last.
